Assistant Vice President Data Strategy
Dr. James D. Borderick presently operates as Assistant Vice President of Data Strategy at Moody's.
Before this, he was a Master Strategist at Micro Focus and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Within this role, he led multiple analytical projects, drove strategy and innovation, and provided business insight leveraging the Net Promoter® System.
Before this, James looked after the Big Data Portfolio within HP Software Education and was a major innovator in many key projects. Prior to the Portfolio Lead role, James developed and refined the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) education portfolio becoming the Lead Curriculum Designer for this world-leading meaning-based computing product. Prior to curriculum design, James was a Senior Cloud Consultant (and IDOL subject matter expert) within HP's Hosting/Operations division.
James has an impressive academic background holding a Doctorate in Space Plasma Physics, a Masters in Physics with Space Science and Technology (graduating top of the year), and served as a Seminar Leader and Lecturer to students in the fields of Condensed Matter, Electromagnetic Fields, Atomic & Nuclear Theory, and Quantum Mechanics. His university research focused on developing new radar pulse codes and the near-Earth phenomena of Ultra Low Frequency waves. James is also a published scientific author and fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. James’s enjoyment of teaching and enthusing others led him to present at the Festival of Postgraduate Research and he was delighted to be awarded with the Greenbank Master Prize for the best presentation and the Researchers in Residence Highly Commended Prize. This event sparked a hidden desire to design and deliver, what is characteristically difficult subject matter, in a clear and entertaining manner. On a personal note, he enjoys: tennis, table tennis, snowboarding, running, visiting historical sites, playing the classical guitar, football, cooking, and having a good Adnams beer.
