Brooke Orlando

Winchester, Virginia

Brooke grew up in Foxborough, Massachusetts alongside an older sister and a younger sister. For most of her life she played softball, but gave this up to continue her passion for horseback riding. During her time in high school, Brooke was one of photographers for the sport section of the school newspaper, and also a member of the French exchange program. This program gave her the opportunity to study abroad in France twice. Since the start of fifth grade, she has been playing the violin and continued until she graduated. Throughout those years she received music awards, along with a seat in the North Eastern Senior District Orchestra. Her senior year, she was appointed concertmaster and dedicated volunteer hours giving lessons to younger students. During her after school hours, Brooke had many odd jobs. Some of these included a candy girl at a country store, a receptionist for a trucking company, and even a groom at horseshows. After graduating high school in June, Brooke decided to take the fall semester off and move from her hometown to Virginia with her older sister. For the past six months, she worked full time at a hotel as a front desk clerk. Currently, Brooke is a full time student at Shenandoah University. She has not yet decided on a major, but has taken interest in the Criminal Justice program. Her dream job from there would be working as a correctional officer. Brooke believes that her strongest qualities are her dedication, enthusiasm, and that she is outgoing and approachable. Brooke sees herself as dedicated because when she sets a goal, she does what is necessary to achieve it. She believes her enthusiasm helps to keep herself and others around her motivated. Her outgoingness and approachability have been helpful in her leadership positions and will continue to be helpful in group environments.
