03/14/17 - Thought I'd throw an update in here. Cancer status still the same. My team at Tufts/NEMC are my best buds, lol.
My grandson is 40 months old & takes my breath away everytime I realize he's mine & how much I love him.
2016 sucked because I lost his father, my youngest son, in July. But he left me people to take care of & I won't let him down. Frank also left people to take care of me & I am extremely grateful.
05/10/15. Wow! It's been a while since I updated this page! So, since the February, 2011 bone marrow transplant - I got a 23 month remission. I split with the Favorite Naval Consort because he couldn't (in his words) handle the mental changes (oh, sorry I bummed you out, lol). But then again, this is when you find out who's gotcha back and fortunately for me, way more people came through than didn't! And they are more important than ever because I had to go back on a new more powerful chemo. Pomalyst which is derived from Thalidomide. It's 70 times stronger than it's predecessor, Revlimid which caused a ton of damage to me. But my late Aunt Sister Terence, CSJ, told me life was a gift and you had to go to every length to preserve it. She had cancer that metastized everywhere, so she knew what she was asking of others.
But that's just the downside. The upside is so fantastic. I am a grandmother now. I have a beautiful, smart, funny, healthy 19 month old grandson. He is the light of my life. I always told my sons that nothing would come before them. I was wrong and I've told them so! My grandson is first. I don't work anymore, I'm medically retired. I take my chemo for 14 days, I recover over the next 5 to 7 days and then what's left I enjoy!
I'm not much of a blogger anymore, Twitter is the perfect speed for me. 140 characters, some RTs and a nap. Lather, rinse, repeat.
And I am finally reading all the books I didn't have time for!
I'm a mother, a daughter, a sister and friend. I'm a blogger. I love my family, my friends, the Navy, and "Dirty Water". I make trips out into the world, but I always return because "Boston you're my home." I can be snippy, self-absorbed, and grudging, but people put up with me because I am funny, smart, and loyal too. I grew up in Charlestown in the 60's and 70's. So I love disco, lol. I attended St. Francis de Sales School, followed by high school at Pope John XXIII in Everett. I graduated in '78; went to work for "The Phone Company" when there was onl
