Esta idea nació para mantener viva la voz de nuestros ancestros.
¡Hola soy Riókó! Junto a mi mami, Borihí, queremos compartir un pedacito de nuestra cultura. Los cantos tradicionales bubis se usan para enseñar, celebrar y transmitir sabiduría. Así, poco a poco, vamos aprendiendo juntos nuestra lengua, que también estamos redescubriendo.

“Bösubári”, así llamaba mi abuelo a mi madre de pequeña. Significa “benjamina”, la última de la familia. Es nuestro pequeño homenaje a él y también una forma de dar voz a los más pequeños. Si queremos que la cultura siga viva, es importante enseñarla a los niños. Algún día seremos adultos y transmitiremos ese conocimiento. “Bösubári” también nos recuerda lo fácil que sería todo si conserváramos la mirada curiosa y abierta que tenemos los peques.

No hablamos bubi con fluidez, lo estamos aprendiendo poco a poco, y creemos que compartir lo que aprendemos y nuestros pequeños avances puede servir a otras familias que estén en la misma situación. Todos los recursos que encontrarás aquí son gratuitos. Creemos que la mejor forma de proteger una lengua es hacerla vivir.

Un día alguien nos dijo:

“Tu lengua no es una lengua minoritaria, es una lengua en peligro de extinción.”

Esa frase nos marcó. Por eso queremos poner nuestro granito de arena para que los miles de bubis que nacimos lejos de Guinea Ecuatorial no olvidemos quiénes somos ni de dónde venimos.

Que nuestras raíces sigan vivas —en nosotros, en nuestros hijos— como un canto que nunca se apaga.

Hello, I’m Riókó! Together with my mommy, Borihí, we want to share a little piece of our culture. Traditional Bubi songs are used to teach, celebrate, and pass on wisdom. And so, little by little, we are learning our language together — a language we are also rediscovering.

“Bösubári”is what my grandfather used to call my mum when she was little. It means “the youngest,” the last one in the family. It is our small tribute to him and also a way to give a voice to the little ones. If we want our culture to stay alive, we must teach it to our children. One day we will grow up and pass that knowledge on. “Bösubári” also reminds us how much easier everything would be if we kept the curious and open gaze that children naturally have.

We don’t speak Bubi fluently yet; we are learning it step by step. We believe that sharing what we learn and our small progress may help other families who are in the same situation. All the resources you’ll find here are free. We believe the best way to protect a language is to let it live.

One day someone told us:

“Your language is not a minority language; it is an endangered language.”

That sentence stayed with us. It’s one of the reasons we want to contribute, even in a small way, so that the thousands of Bubis who were born far from Equatorial Guinea never forget who we are or where we come from.

May our roots stay alive — in us, in our children —
