Michael Capanelli
Music is literally my life. It's all I've known growing up and just about the only steady job I've held in my adult life (Much to the chagrin of my wallet). I try more then anything to impart the emotions going on inside of me and a sense of connection to those emotions with the listener. There is to me an intimate exchange going on between performer and those being performed for. It's not really about being the best guitar player or best singer or best what have you, it's really just about meaning it. If you can convey conviction and belief in your listeners then you've done your job as an artist. Aside from preforming and recording I'm also a guitar instructor. I try to instill in my students the same sense of wonder and awe I feel every time I pick up or write a new song. The sense of pulling these beautiful sounds and words out of nothingness and causing them to effect anyone in earshot of that wondrous event. Sounds a little tacky I know but it's about the closest I can some in words to describe what's inside of me. Music has been my life and first love, it's been my beginning, and will surely be with me at my end. If you see me preform in the subway be sure to smile and stay a while and share a story or two of your own, or if you need someone to help guide your own playing I'd be happy to do that as well. Either way I'm both honored and humbled.
