I am a hybrid. What I mean by this is that I come from two completely different people with extremely different views on life. Whether it comes to religion, politics, money, or anything else my parents do not agree. Because of this, I have spent my entire life stuck between two different worlds. I have been taken to both church and synagogue and even celebrated Christmas and Hanukah in the same day. I have heard why “Trump is the best president in United States history” and why he is “completely terrifying”. I have been taught how important it is to save money and told to get what I want because money does not really matter. While one parent tells me to get the highest paying job I possibly can, the other says to do what I love. Although this confused me as a child, it also made me the person I am today. Constantly being pulled to different sides of the spectrum forced me to think for myself. I have never believed something solely because my parents did, and I have formed my own views of the world. Although being a hybrid has been hard at times, ultimately, I am thankful for the way my parents raised me because it made me who I am today.
