Brad McGirr
Mr. McGirr serves as the Mayor of the city of Rancho Santa Margarita, Orange County's first city of the new millennium.
Brad devoted over 15 years coaching and officiating youth sports in Rancho Santa Margarita before being appointed to the Rancho Santa Margarita Planning Commission in 2010. He was thereafter elected to the CIty Council in 2012.
Mr. McGirr is an attorney and is a member of the Board of Directors of La Follette, Johnson, De Haas, Fesler & Ames. He has been responsible for all aspects of civil, trial and appellate practice and has tried or arbitrated numerous cases over the years. He actively litigates cases involving allegations of medical malpractice, professional liability, general liability, product liability, and construction defects. Mr. McGirr holds the highest rating through Martindale-Hubbell - AV, and has been selected as a Southern California "Superlawyer" for three consecutive years.
Brad was born in Los Angeles, California and was raised in Anaheim, California and San Antonio, Texas. After a number of years as a practicing recording engineer in Los Angeles, he subsequently received his B.A. degree from California State University, Fullerton in 1982, majoring in Geography with an emphasis on City Planning and Land Use Analysis. While employed as a Contracts and Legislative Analyst for Pacific Life, he attended Western State University College of Law, graduating in 1985 with Scholastic Merit. Mr. McGirr was a Law Review Editorial Board member, was named to the Dean's Honor Roll, and was a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award. He was thereafter admitted to the California State Bar and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Brad and his wife Julie enjoy traveling and scuba diving as often as possible. Mr. McGirr fills any remaining free time he might have by writing and playing his guitar.
