My personal artifact is the game puck of the state championship hockey game. I was given the game puck for scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against our rivals, Cypress Bay. I remember the goal exactly. I was given a perfect breakaway pass from my line mate, and then from there on it was a one on one – the opposing goaltender and myself. As I skated across their blue line, everything felt like it was in slow motion and there was complete silence except for my heart beating. When I was at about the hash marks, I fired the puck right over the goalie's blocker and into the net. There are no real words to describe the emotions I felt after scoring the game winner. This hockey puck means everything to me because of all the emotions stored within it. It shows that all of the hard work, determination, commitment, passion, and love for the game of hockey has paid off. No doubt, this was the greatest moment of my hockey career thus far.
