In the construction business since high school, Bowen longed for a more fulfilling career. When his daughter won the South Florida Pageant, her agent invited him on set of the movie Grace. Never having been in front of the camera, and a fulltime construction worker at the time. His role in Grace was the spark that ignited his desire to chase his dreams. At the age of 44, Bowen quit his construction job to pursue acting, and never looked back. Inspired by the roles he played in his daily life (father, husband, and businessman), Bowen realized quickly that acting was his calling. After years of camouflaging his unhappiness in the construction industry, Bowen realized he had already been ‘acting’ for most of his career. A self described ‘hands on learner,’ Bowen spends a lot of his time offset performing in student films and taking seminars to improve his craft. Despite having no formal acting education, his willingness to work hard, and be anywhere at anytime, continues to earn him more roles as a featured actor in high profile films including the highly anticipated, Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 2. Bowen’s specialty is character acting. According to Wikipedia, a character actor is a supporting actor skilled at playing distinctly unusual, interesting, or eccentric characters, such that they are "almost unrecognizable” from part to part. In 2014 he played two completely different characters in back to back episodes of Drop Dead Diva. He draws the most inspiration from character acting legends, Tom Hanks, Heath Ledger and Robin Williams. Bowen is not motivated by money or fame, but rather hopes to inspire others who are unhappy with their current situation to achieve their dreams, regardless of age or circumstances. He feels that if he was able to carve a new path in life in his 40’s with a family to support, then anyone can.
