Brad Lucas

I am a software developer and architect with extensive experience developing systems for financial, technology and new media firms. I am currently running a software consulting firm.

Early in my career I built and sold a popular screen capture program for Windows called SnapShot. Later I at Fidelity Investments I build systems for the portfolio management division. Following Fidelity I moved to New York and have worked on projects at a number of large firms including, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns. My passion for building interesting applications has also driven me to be a co-founder in two Internet based startups.

I am good at seeing what the business is asking for and translating that into a workable plan for a technology team. Also, I am very good at leading teams to a successful launch while keeping the business actively involved and aware of the team's progress. Lastly, I most happy building something of value that works well.

► Interests

I am very interested in early start startups which a technology focus. I do well in situations where there is a need to get an idea off the group and implemented as a proof of concept in a short period of time.

I have worked for a number of large firms in New York. I generally look for organizations that are results oriented without a lot of bureaucracy. Places where teams matter and getting thing done quickly as well as reliably is of importance. I am interested in smaller financial firms who are looking to expand past working inside of Excel to building out their own internal systems or integrate with third party firms.

I see huge benefits to moving development on the JVM from Java to Clojure and have spent a good part of the last two years developing in Clojure and have seen this for myself. I am especially interested in meeting with firms who are looking to evaluate Clojure are committed to Clojure.
