I have never really found an extracurricular activity that I have wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Throughout my middle and high school years I rapidly shifted through different extracurricular activities. When I was in middle and elementary school I played a lot of soccer. I was not particularly good. In fact I remember primarily being in the back line kind of just running around hoping that someone else would score for our team. I have always been a scrawny, smaller guy so most contact sports I was pretty bad at.

When I got to high school, I joined the Cross-Country team. I thought it would be a good way to stay active without having to directly compete against other, more athletic types. However, I absolutely hated running cross country. Practice sessions were right after school ended, which was the hottest part of the day, and were essentially just running laps for an hour under the burning sun.

After sticking with it for 2 seasons, I decided I was not going to do Cross-Country any longer. I joined our school’s theatre program, thinking it could be a fun change of pace and wouldn’t be too physically demanding. I enjoyed the acting parts of it, but our school primarily did musicals. I am horrible at singing, and I am not particularly fond of dancing. I did enjoy this enough to carry on with it throughout the rest of high school, but I am fairly certain I do not want to do it again in college.

This has left me searching for something suitable to fill this gap with. I have considered taking up some outlandish sport like fencing, since I saw that UGA does in fact have a fencing team here that accepts newcomers. Worst case scenario is it might not be my thing, but it should at least be fun to try.
