Growing up from the time I was five years old I always had a bat and a glove in my hands. Throughout my formative years I wouldn’t be who I was today with baseball. Baseball taught me that you can fail seven out of ten times and still be considered one of the greats.
By the time high school started I was playing travel college prep baseball all summer and winter and playing high school baseball in the spring. For my high school team, I played middle infield and for my college prep team I played corner outfield.
At 14 years old I was convinced I wanted to play college baseball at the next level. I reached out to numerous division 3 coaches hoping to get an offer to division 3 school with good academics. While I did end up getting couple division 3 looks my senior year after our high school won 3rd in state with me as the leadoff hitter none of the schools were the right fit.
This led me to one of the hardest decisions of my life. I decided to give up the game I loved because I knew that coming to the University of Georgia would set me up better for building a successful future. At the time the decision crushed me and had taken weeks. Now, looking back after the most fun semester of my life I still miss baseball but I’m extremely happy I came to Georgia.
