I grew up in a busy city where a constant change of pace was the norm. Facing the daily randomness of Brooklyn, NY taught me how to be flexible and quickly acclimate to what can be overwhelming at times. I'm currently making use of those skills at Iowa State, majoring in Journalism & Mass Communication.
Iowa has shaped my ability to find similarities in people from all walks of life. I've built many bridges through introducing new music to people and vice versa. It sparked my involvement in college radio and I enjoyed having that platform. I gained valuable experience DJing and producing shows on a weekly basis. I also facilitated a talk show with other college students discussing issues in the black community.
My love for music, sports, and documenting culture has opened many doors. Completing internships at Complex Magazine and Hot 97 helped me with finding my writer's voice. My mission is to display the arts & culture positively by connecting the past, present, and future.
Being a student of electronic media has shown me the different worlds of magazine and newspaper writing, blogging, video editing, social media, and producing. It has been a vast adventure and I'm proud to be a jack of all trades for the love of culture.
