Brandon Victor Dixon

Brandon Victor Dixon is one of the most dynamic and sought after young artists emerging in the entertainment industry today. Currently starring in Rent for a limited time, you can see him re-create what is widely being talked about as one of the best performances of Tom Collins the show has seen in its sixteen year history.

A Presidential Scholar Semi-finalist and scholarship winner at the British Academy of Dramatic Acting in Oxford, Brandon is a graduate of Columbia University and a recipient of the University's I.A.L Diamond Award for Achievement in the Arts which is an honor he shares with Tony Kushner (Angels in America), Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, or Change, and Katori Hall (Mountaintop).

Since his professional debut, originating the role of Adult Simba in The Lion King National Tour (Cheetah), Brandon has displayed his diverse abilities in a number of roles. Notably, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as Harpo in Broadway's The Color Purple, and most recently, he was nominated for Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, and AUDELCO awards for his outstanding portrayal of Haywood Patterson in Kander and Ebb's The Scottsboro Boys.

In the past two years, Brandon has spent his time producing new pieces such as Indomitable: James Brown (The Music, the Man) a concert piece on the life of James Brown developed in conjuction with Patricia McGregor (Hurt Village) and Burnt Sugar: The Arkestra Chamber, and performing in concerts and benefits with fellow artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Nathan Lane, Wynton Marsalis, Chita Rivera, Liza Minnelli, Matthew Broderick, David Hyde Pierce, Tony winner Levi Kries, Three-time Tony nominee Kelli O'hara, The Voice's Frenchie Davis, and American Idol's Ace Young.

Brandon is currently slated to play Ray Charles in a forthcoming Broadway production about the life of the Genius written by Pulitzer Prize winner Susan Lori-Parks (Topdog/Underdog) and helmed by Hollywood producer Stuart Benjamin (La Bamba, Ray), and he is preparing to star in a forthcoming Broadway production about the birth of Motown Records being led by the legendary creator of Motown himself, Berry Gordy, and the Chairmen and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Doug Morris.

Other Credits include: ABC's One Life To Live, Law & Order Criminal Intent, and ABC's The Good Wife. Originally from Gaithersburg, Maryland, Brandon currently resides in New York City.
