Breanna Azevedo
Student, Artist, and Volunteer in Mississauga, ON, Canada
I’m an artist and third-year Media Production student at Ryerson University and am currently living in Mississauga, ON, Canada. For as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for film and television, wanting to contribute to the creation of stories, eventually becoming an assistant director for television and film projects. Currently, I am looking to become a film and television production assistant, which will allow me to build the necessary skills required to be an effective assistant director. For the past two years, I have been working at Salt and Light Television, a small media company in Toronto, where I have contributed to a variety of areas in the creation of their projects. This includes transcribing and close captioning shows, working the teleprompter, and being a VTR (video tape) operator. I have also gained considerable on set experience as both a production assistant and grip and art production assistant on various short film projects, taking on a variety of roles such as setting up film equipment and facilitating the construction of sets to managing the continuity sheet. I am always working on gaining and refining other media-related skills such as writing, where I’ve had work published nationally in columns and news stories. Within my program, I have, and am presently taking film and other related creative courses that have further sparked my passion for storytelling, and challenged me to develop my creative ideas and put them into action. I’m also currently working on a practicum project as an art director and assisting in the pre-production process of a short film. In addition to movies, I also share other interests ranging from traveling and reading to volunteering, music, and arts. To check out more about my experiences and skills, please click the link above.
