Brendan Hawxwell is an Australian property developer and construction entrepreneur based in South East Queensland, with more than a decade of experience spanning construction, carpentry, landscaping, project management and property development.

Brendan left school at 15 and began working the following week, initially undertaking a job trial that led to an apprenticeship. Starting in construction at 16 gave him hands-on experience from an early age and established the practical foundation for his career across the building and construction sectors.

During his late teens and early twenties, Brendan worked across a broad range of construction projects before moving into larger-scale work, including multi-residential and townhouse developments. This experience gave him an understanding of complex construction environments, trade coordination, project scheduling and delivery.

Throughout his twenties, Brendan established and operated several construction-related businesses. His earlier ventures were smaller operations, working alongside apprentices and labourers across carpentry, landscaping and residential construction. He later built a larger construction business that grew to involve more than 40 employees and contractors, giving him extensive experience in workforce management, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, project delivery and the commercial and operational requirements of running a growing construction company.

Brendan closed the business in late 2023 following a combination of personal circumstances and internal business issues. He subsequently took time away from the industry to reassess his professional direction and consider how to apply his construction experience to the next stage of his career.

He later returned to the development environment, working in project and site management across a number of Brisbane developments, including high-rise and apartment projects. This provided further exposure to larger development environments and the relationship between construction, consultants, contractors, project management and development planning.

It was during this period that Brendan's focus shifted increasingly from construction services toward property development. Drawing on his experience in the trades, construction business and larger development projects, he began pursuing property opportunities of his own, with a focus on residential development and value-add projects.

Today, Brendan's primary focus is residential property development, particularly opportunities where strategic acquisition, planning, construction, renovation, reconfiguration or redevelopment can create additional value. His construction background allows him to assess projects from both practical and commercial perspectives, considering factors such as acquisition costs, construction expenditure, financing, project timelines, development strategy and potential end value.

While property development is now his primary focus, Brendan continues to operate smaller construction and maintenance businesses alongside his development activities, maintaining an active connection with the construction industry and practical project delivery.

A significant part of Brendan's professional activity is building relationships across the property, finance and investment sectors. He maintains a private professional network of approximately 50 property developers, private investors, brokers, consultants and other property professionals, primarily throughout South East Queensland.

Through this network, Brendan has developed relationships with private investors both locally and internationally, as well as developers, finance professionals and specialist consultants. These relationships support collaboration, introductions, project discussions and access to specialist expertise across different stages of the property development process.

Brendan's career represents a progression from entering construction at 16, through hands-on trades and multiple construction businesses, to managing a larger construction operation, working within major development environments and ultimately applying that experience to property development projects of his own.
