As a Realtor with The Nancy Hulsman Group at Coldwell Banker in Ellicott City, Maryland, Brendan Malanga serves buyers and sellers throughout Howard, Baltimore, Carroll, and Anne Arundel counties. His practice covers a broad range of needs and property types, including luxury properties, relocations, investment purchases, multi-family homes, and condominiums, as well as clients looking to upsize or downsize. His relocation experience, combined with his own recent move, makes him well suited to the varied Maryland communities he serves. Whether he is working with a first-time buyer, a seasoned investor, or a family in transition, he pairs deep market knowledge with a teacher's ability to make complex decisions clear, an approach that has earned him one of the strongest repeat-client rates in the field.

That approach grew out of an earlier career in education, one built on preparation, patience, and personal investment in the people he worked with. His path to it began outside the housing market entirely. Born in New Jersey, he lived there until age twelve and then spent nine years in Hickory, North Carolina, before moving to Boston for college. His decision to attend Northeastern University was shaped by his lifelong interest in basketball and the Boston Celtics and by the university's strong history program. He graduated summa cum laude in 2003 with a major in history and a minor in education, then began fifteen years of teaching.

He taught eleventh and twelfth grade history at TechBoston Academy, part of Boston Public Schools, where 97% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch. His specialties included World War II, the Holocaust, human behavior, and post-Civil War African American history. For ten years he also ran an experiential learning program, planning, fundraising for, and leading a two-week trip to Central and Eastern Europe for between fifteen and twenty-five honors students each year to study the Holocaust and the Second World War firsthand. Funding those trips meant raising more than $50,000 annually, on top of his teaching responsibilities. In addition, he organized a Washington, D.C. trip that continued for three years and helped plan a trip to Puerto Rico. In 2006 he was named the inaugural winner of the Margot Stern Strom Award from Facing History and Ourselves, an honor for excellence in teaching.

He transitioned to real estate in 2016. Although colleagues with similar backgrounds expected the move to full-time work to take at least three years, he accomplished it within one. He built his business in the Boston area with William Raveis, earning the firm's Chairman's Club Award in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and again in 2024, which placed him among the top 9% of the company. He has twice received the Milton Neighbors' Choice Award, a community-voted recognition of the area's favorite local Realtor, and has earned Best of Zillow status on multiple occasions. Among his accomplishments, he is proudest that his percentage of repeat clients ranks among the best in the field.

His personal story reflects resilience alongside those professional results. He married Casey Malanga in 2005, and together they adopted two children, James in 2012 and Gabriella, known as Gabby, in 2015. At one point he had volunteered to donate a kidney in a chain donation on behalf of a former student, only for the procedure to be cancelled fewer than seven days before it was scheduled, at a time when Casey was facing cancer and would need chemotherapy and his full attention. In 2022, Casey passed away. He held his family together through the loss, and in 2025 he married Toni Malanga, then relocated with his family to Ellicott City to start fresh with Coldwell Banker and The Nancy Hulsman Group.

Philanthropy has been a steady part of his life. He contributes thousands of dollars to charity each year, directing his giving toward cancer research, education, healthcare, and worldwide access to clean water. When his real estate career first took off, he donated 10% of every commission check to Chris Long's Waterboys organization and continued until his wife's illness made it impossible. For years he served as the top fundraising sponsor at his children's elementary school, backing the Milton Foundation for Education gala and the school's annual fair fundraiser, along with Glover Elementary School. His volunteering matched his donations: two years coaching his son's soccer team, three years coaching high school girls' basketball, two years coaching boys' basketball, and several seasons sponsoring Milton recreational softball.
