I am a student at North Carolina Central University. I am considered a “nontraditional” transfer student. I placed nontraditional in quotations because I know longer believe it holds the meaning it once did. I have yet to declare a major although I am leaning toward history. As a student my intellectual interests are all over the place. Science whether is it “applied” like engineering or theoretical like quantum physics is something that intrigues me. Politic Science is a fleeting interest as well. I enjoy asking questions and seeking answers. I believe with enough hard work and dedication that I am capable of doing anything as long as I stick to it. My goal is to obtain that illusive bachelor’s degree. I have started and stopped school too many times than I wish to share here but I think a History degree will serve me well at this point in my life.
I am married with two children. I work full time for the City of Durham and I think of myself as an advocate for the citizens of Durham. The work I do is challenging and fulfilling though some may say it is thankless. I work in a team environment that encourages cooperation, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving. These traits will continue to serve me in my academic endeavors.
I am a homebody who enjoys watching football; the Steelers are my favorite professional team. I also enjoy playing video games and reading when I get the chance. My favorite genres to read are science-fiction, fantasy, and the post-apocalyptic. However, one of my favorite books happens to be a Non-fiction work by Carl Sagan titled, “The Demon Haunted World.” Because I have two small children their hobbies have now become my hobbies and my reading and gaming lists continue to grow.
