Brendon O'Brien is a Spoken Word poet, playwright and director, working on stage since 2008. He's written three of his own plays - '2 Creations', 'Body=Barrier' and 'To Light' - since 2010, in addition to directing community plays such as 'The Gaza Monologues'.

As a Spoken Word poet, Brendon was the first runner-up of the Verses Bocas Poetry Slam 2014, and winner of the 2015 No Ifs No Butts Poetry Slam. He continues to write, perform and facilitate with his poetry group 'The Griot Guild'.

Passionate about youth, politics and social justice, Brendon was formerly a co-host of the Synergy TV morning show 'Breaking Dawn', as well as his own youth panel show 'New Talk'. He is also an activist on sexual and reproductive health and rights issues.

Brendon now runs his own performance company, the.art.IS, where he continues to use Spoken Word, participatory theatre, and other performance tools to empower others to listen to the stories of others and better share their own.
