Brennan Wong is a 19-year old social activist, innovator, and AYCE sushi enthusiast. Moved by a picture of a little girl crawling her way to a local relief camp in South Sudan almost ten years ago, Brennan has since motivated thousands of youth to positively affect their communities around the world.
In 2013, Brennan founded Pledges for Change, a student-run not-for-profit organization and worldwide movement that engages, educates, and empowers young people to recognize themselves as global citizens and unleash their potential to take action. The organization is also dedicated to igniting the entrepreneurial spirit of youth to deliver innovative social change. In almost four years, the Pledges for Change has raised nearly $20,000 and continues to inspire thousands of youth internationally. Brennan’s story has been featured in various major news outlets, including CTV News, the Toronto Star, and the Huffington Post.
Brennan has been recognized both on the national and international stage. In 2014, he was selected as one of Canada’s Top 20 Under 20, while in 2016, he was named a Global Teen Leader and Global Changemaker. He serves as an advisor to Pearson and the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration’s Voluntary Sector Relations Unit.
