Brent Young, AIA is the principal of YOUNG Design Studio. He pursues Architectural and Interior Design with a passion for conceptual clarity and simple elegant solutions. Through an analytical process in which the site, context, program and opportunities of a project are all explored without preconceptions. Brent is able to maximize the potential and creative possibilities. His experience with diverse project types, clients, and geographic locations have influenced him as a multi-faceted designer who is able to thrive in complex and unique situations. With over 15 years of experience, Brent spent six years practicing Architecture and Interior Design at Yost Grube Hall (YGH) Architecture in Portland. There he was involved in the design and implementation of several US embassies, recreation facilities, housing projects, higher education and commercial buildings. Prior to YGH, he worked on a number of K-12 school projects, restaurants and cultural buildings at BOORA Architects in Portland. Brent balances his time in the studio with time spent involved in academia. He regularly participates as an architectural critic and has been an adjunct professor at Portland State University and the University of Oregon Architecture departments. He holds a Bachelors degree in Interior Design from San Jose State University and a Masters in Architecture from Syracuse University.
