Brett Tremelling
Former Police Officer and Current Coast Guard CPO in Massachusetts
As a sixth-grader, Brett Tremelling acted with a friend to help the Savannah Police Department apprehend two shoplifting suspects and recover approximately $550 worth of clothing from two different stores at Savannah’s Oglethorpe Mall. He went on to become a police officer with the Chatham County Police Department (CCPD), receiving numerous commendations including a Medal of Valor and a Combat Cross. Brett Tremelling’s work with the CCPD included serving on the Chatham-Savannah Counter-Narcotics Team.
While employed by the CCPD, he earned both an associate of arts in liberal arts and a bachelor of arts in human resource administration from Saint Leo University. He also joined the United States Coast Guard Reserve.
Activated to full-time Coast Guard duty after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Brett Tremelling subsequently served as a sea marshal and supported Iraqi Freedom combat operations in both Iraq and Kuwait. He returned from overseas deployment to an assignment in Mayport, Florida, where he subsequently attained the rank of chief petty officer. Mr. Tremelling currently provides law enforcement instruction at the Northeast Regional Fisheries Training Center at Joint Base Cape Cod in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts.
