Brian Platt is Partner and Director of Public Policy for UMusic Hotels Development, a real estate development company established in partnership with a global music organization to build music and entertainment destinations across North America. He focuses on aligning cultural investment with economic development and public-private collaboration. The projects he supports combine live performance venues, recording studios, a music school, and branded hotels and residences. Through this integrated model, he works to help create spaces that encourage creativity, attract visitors, and provide opportunities for emerging artists and future professionals in the music industry.

Brian previously spent 12 years in municipal government, including service as City Manager in Kansas City and Jersey City. In Kansas City, he helped launch and facilitate more than $5 billion in redevelopment projects over five years, contributing to sustained growth across the city. He also advanced environmental initiatives, including planting 10,000 trees over three years and pursuing the development of one of the largest solar arrays in the United States. His leadership reflected a practical approach to economic expansion, infrastructure improvement, and long-term sustainability.

Platt also served as Jersey City's first Chief Innovation Officer and later as Business Administrator and City Manager. In those roles, he supported record levels of housing construction comparable to those in Manhattan. He worked to strengthen the delivery of essential municipal services, including increasing street resurfacing output and implementing more effective snow removal operations. He also directed attention and resources toward low-income families and individuals experiencing homelessness, focusing on measurable improvements in service access and overall quality of life for residents.

Brian Platt began his career in management consulting with a global firm and earlier served as a kindergarten teacher through a national service program. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he contributed to his community as an Emergency Medical Responder and volunteered for ten years as a firefighter in his hometown. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and later completed a Master’s in Public Administration. Throughout his academic and professional journey, he has received recognition for leadership and public service, co-authored a professional publication on supervisory practices, and supported instructional initiatives centered on effective and inclusive governance.
