Brian Rastegar
Social Media Manager, Project Manager, and Architect in Tehran
My name is Brian Rastgar, and my academic journey began with a strong passion for economics. Since I can remember, I've always been interested in economic issues, so when I went to university, I decided to major in economics.
Bachelor's Degree:
I started my studies in economics at the University of California, Berkeley. During this time, I was particularly drawn to macroeconomics and financial policies. The experiences I had at Berkeley helped me better understand complex economic concepts. I had the opportunity to work with professors like Daniel McFadden, and this allowed me to engage in meaningful research and accelerate my growth in the field.
Master's Degree:
After graduating from Berkeley, I moved on to Harvard University to pursue my Master's in Economics. At this stage, my focus shifted towards the economic issues faced by developing countries. I was particularly interested in how we could design financial policies to help these countries grow economically. My thesis, which focused on the role of financial policies in the economic development of low-income countries, was well-received, and one of my papers was published in a respected journal.
PhD:
To further my studies, I decided to pursue a PhD at the University of Chicago. Here, my research primarily focused on economic models and how to predict financial crises. My dissertation was centered around analyzing global economic relationships and the impact of fiscal and monetary policies on global recessions. This work helped me gain recognition in the academic community, and my research was published in several prestigious economic journals.
Achievements and Research:
After completing my PhD, my research continued to focus on predicting economic crises, macroeconomic analysis, and studying the impact of economic policies on different countries. I also had the opportunity to provide consultancy for governments and international organizations, applying my research to help design effective economic policies.
This academic and research journey has been full of valuable experiences, and I hope to continue contributing to the field of economics, deepening my understanding and making a positive impact.
