Brian is a consultant and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in strategic planning, communication, and customer service. He has successfully led small and large teams providing internal business support as well as direct services to clients. As Director of Business Support Services for Mecklenburg County Government, Brian was responsible for the agency providing information technology, facility management, human resource, and communication services to over 5000 employees. The County’s IT service was named one of the nation’s 10 best in 2014, and featured in a Microsoft video as a cloud-based technology success story.
Among his previous positions, Brian served as Mecklenburg’s eGovernment/Customer Service Manager and managed the development of the County’s award winning website. While an Assistant Director for Park & Recreation, he secured the domain ParkandRec.com and launched the County’s first web presence in 1996. Brian’s marketing team also developed and trademarked the Recreate All Year, featuring the mascot RAY, to promote youth recreation programs. The County’s indoor waterpark bears the mascot’s name – Ray’s Splash Planet.
Brian began his career in Orange County, NC while completing a master’s degree at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Western Carolina University, and has also completed the UNC Journalism School’s Technology & Communications Certificate program.
Brian is also the co-owner of six patents licensed to companies producing lawn sports logos. He is a member of the Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation Commission chairing the Aquatics, Golf, and Strategic Planning/Long Range Finance committees.
