Brian Blueskye

Desert Hot Springs, CA

My name is Brian Blueskye and I'm a freelance writer. I'm currently a contributor to the Coachella Valley Independent as a music writer.

Originally from the Cleveland, OH area, I moved to the Coachella Valley in 2005. I've written blogs on a variety of subjects - most notably books, music and performing arts. The first piece I ever published was an interview with former white supremacist and former RAHOWA lead singer George Burdi in 2002 in The Engaged Zen Foundation's newsletter. I've written independently as a blogger on my own blogs since 2000. I wrote a book blog while working as a bookseller for Borders Books & Music that featured interviews with authors and featured book reviews. In 2013, I became a contributor to The Coachella Valley Independent.

I'm a self-confessed audiophile and bibliophile. When it comes to music, there's no genre of music that's off the table; while I've focused on a few specific genres of music, I listen to just about everything. The same goes for books; I've read such a variety of books from classic literature, modern fiction, science fiction, current events, history, biographies of all kinds, business writing, and sports books.

I have also worked in the retail and banking industry. My work in the retail industry while at Kaufmann's (now Macy's) selling men's clothing has sparked a possible interest in also covering men's fashion as a writer. As a freelance writer, I'm also looking for new contacts and networking opportunities.
