Brian Kmet is a Principal in Bain & Company's New York office. Brian joined Bain in June 2005 as a Summer Associate, and spends most of his time in Bain’s Private Equity Group where he has advised funds on over 75 potential acquisitions in industries including retail, restaurants, consumer products, technology, financial services and media & entertainment. The projects have spanned traditional LBO, distressed debt and corporate M&A.; Additionally, Brian has executed or led a number of transformational corporate projects including direct-to-consumer strategy work for a national department store, organization and incentives design for a global IT services provider and full-potential strategy development for an international logistics player. Much of his focus on this side is on Private Equity portfolio company value creation. Prior to business school, Brian spent four years at Capital One where he developed and marketed upscale rewards and affinity based credit cards. In 2006, Brian earned an MBA with Distinction from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he concentrated in marketing and finance. In 2000, he graduated from Duke University with a BSE in civil engineering and a minor in economics.
