Brian Rock

New Jersey

I am many things, chief among them an educator.

I work in a high school in New Jersey, teaching social studies. I have taught every grade from freshmen to seniors and every "level" of course from special ed to advanced placement. Currently, I teach Modern U.S. History and A.P. U.S. Government and Politics.

I am passionate about technology. I think it has radically transformed our lives, and I think it holds great potential for transforming education. I am constantly seeking ways to integrate technology into my classroom, and some days this goes better than others. I publish a website about technology and teaching where I share what I've learned and try to help other teachers.

I am also a photographer. I only got started in photography because I was enlisted to advise the yearbook club at my high school. However, in the past few years I have read a great deal about photography and learned enough to consider myself a semi-professional. I do some work on the side as a photographer with one of my old students at a NJ photography studio.

Finally, I enjoy writing. I find it helps me learn, and as an educator I love to share what I know. Aside from Tech and Teaching, I also publish a blog about photography - Digital Photography How To. I have several other projects in mind, and in the near future I plan on publishing a website to help students prepare for the AP Government exam and I also plan on publishing several short books about these topics (educational technology, photography, and government).
