I'm a teacher in East Orange, and I'm an advocate for civics education.

I teach social studies at East Orange Campus in East Orange, New Jersey. I've been there since 2007, teaching U.S. History, World History, and A.P. U.S. Government and Politics.

I'm active in the NJEA, serving in leadership positions at the local, county, and state level.

I feel strongly about civics education and think that we can do a better job in New Jersey and throughout the country preparing our youth to be engaged citizens. I write about this on my website - The Civic Educator.

I love coffee so much that the day after Hurricane Sandy, while most of New Jersey had no power, I was out looking for a store that had coffee. I had an old fashioned coffee pot that I could use on the stove, but I forgot to grind my coffee beans the night before while I still had electricity.
