Not too long ago, I was traveling the country with one principal goal in mind: to produce the best on-campus entertainment on college campuses nationwide. It became increasingly transparent in my early start-up days that students yearned for on-campus music events on a more consistent basis. Based out of the strong desire to fill that same musical yearning I had felt several years prior, my team decided to create The Campus Socialite Blitz & Beatz Tour.

Thousands of students on campuses nationwide were utilizing social media, making it the obvious decision on where to focus our marketing efforts. Facebook posts; photos; event pages; tweets; Twit-pics; and check-ins were virally spreading information about the tour. By combining major college football rivalry weekends with in-demand entertainment, I would come to be regarded as a 26-year old creative genius by students and peers alike. To say I was mistaken would be an understatement.

The particulars of why Blitz & Beatz did not succeed are best told alongside a cold beer (or two).

My interest in the power of social media fueled my desire to pursue a career in social. I devoted two-plus years to research how large organizations leverage social media throughout the enterprise. I've been fortunate enough to work and network with some of the best and brightest corporate practitioners both in the US and abroad. I was also able to glean quite a bit of useful information from a viral infographic I produced early in 2011, which can be found here: http://socialtimes.com/social-commerce-infographic-2_b84120

Through my drive to better comprehend social in the enterprise, I stumbled upon a new buzzword...Data. Since May of 2012, I have been fortunate enough to shift positions in my organization to better understand how enterprises turn their data strategy into actionable results. The insights and knowledge that can be extracted from data to drive commercial success is my new passion. As I continue to better understand how data is driving decision-making in the enterprise, I find myself becoming more invested in speaking with as many technologies and end users in the space to further my knowledge.

When I'm not working, you can find me on the golf course, at a Rangers game, watching the Hoosiers, traveling the world and helping out a few charities. But my girlfriend, family, dog and friends come first. This was about.me, I'd love to hear about.you!
