I'm a San Diego native who has experienced a lot of joy in my lifetime. I attribute much of that happiness to membership in an extended family of Sicilian Americans...many of whom once lived in the harbor-side neighborhood known today as Little Italy.
Early on, I decided I wanted to document the personalities and stories of this unique group of people - my way of paying homage - in the most effective way possible. I chose to write a book.
I've been writing in one form or another since I was a child...and actually experienced the joy of being published at seven years old, when a story I penned (penciled) appeared in a national teachers' magazine.
It's been far too long since that heady literary success. I'm going for published story #2! It's an historic novel, set in San Diego in the 1940s. Much of it is fiction, but important aspects are very true.
Wish me luck as I await word from a potential agent
