Public Relations Director in Chicago
What I Do
Born and raised in Chicago, I am a marketing and public relations professional with a background in journalism.
Every once in a while, I have the opportunity to chat about my approach to strategic communications, such as this blog post from Wizikey: “Data is continually evolving: Bridgette from Field Museum” and I get recognized for my arts and culture work in pieces like 12 Black Creatives You Should Know in Columbus, Ga.
But I get most of my excitement from helping to craft the stories of others; My 15-year career includes expertise in content creation for marketing and advertising campaigns as well as media and PR strategy.
My PR and marketing background includes former Director of Marketing at Public Relations at The Columbus Museum in Columbus, Ga., and communications specialist Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, as well as four years of consulting with small business and nonprofit organizations.
Currently, I am Public Relations Director at the Field Museum in Chicago.
How I Started
My first love is writing and I'm a journalist by nature. My travels have taken me from Illinois to Texas to Ohio and back again. I have a B.A. in journalism from Texas Southern University in Houston and a certificate in Advertising & PR Essentials from DePaul University, and an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix. In 2021, I received my Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America.
My journalism experience includes several newspapers, including the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Defender, the Marshall News Messenger (Texas) and the Springfield New-Sun (Ohio), as well as online publications such as AOL's Patch.com, Politic365, Young Black Professional Guide.
I have created content for a variety of companies, as well as consulting that led to client appearances in several major publications.
