Brionhy Westbrook
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Brionhy has been a registered nurse for over 12 years. For over half of that time, the mother of two has been specialising in Emergency Nursing.
Brionhy has worked in a variety of emergency departments around Australia, having firsthand experience in dealing with life threatening situations. From triage to trauma, Brionhy has witnessed the devastating effects families go through being unprepared in medical emergencies and how to manage a sick child.
"Our mission at KidzAid is to educate as many parents, grandparents and carers within the community in paediatric first aid and the life saving skill of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Knowledge is power, and in my opinion, there is nothing more important than being prepared and confident to act in an emergency situation. A large majority of presentations to the emergency department are paediatric cases (infants/children); parents often present feeling helpless, as they don't know what to do. I'm hoping parents, grandparents and child care providers walk away from a KidzAid course feeling confident and empowered".
KidzAid first came about after a realisation that there is a strong need for a quality first aid training service, specifically designed for parents and carers of infants and young children.
Brionhy is extremely passionate about educating the community in paediatric first aid. When Brionhy is not educating parents with KidzAid, she is busily working in an Emergency Department in Melbourne.
Drawing from her experiences as a registered nurse and mother, Brionhy looks forward to meeting with many parents and carers in the community throughout 2014, at her KidzAid courses.
