Brittany Costellow
Bowling Green, Kentucky
Hello! My name is Brittany Costellow and I'm highly motivated writer with a big imagination and a passion for music, travel and learning something new every day!
From the time I learned to read, I've had my face buried in a book. I was a shy kid and books offered an escape from the daily insecurities associated with small town youth. I figured out fairly quickly that writing also provided a way to vent and communicate in ways that I, the awkward shy kid, learned to embrace.
Ironically, writing as a career never crossed my mind during my high school years, when I was convinced I was going to be the next Jethro Tull and rock the stage on my flute, or even during my lost early college years after my father passed away.
Writing snuck up on me like a long lost friend during an elective journalism class during my junior year. I had already completed all of my general education requirements and was literally spinning my wheels trying to figure out what I wanted to do in life. I started to ask myself what I was really good at and I was upset to find that I couldn't put my finger on exactly one thing, except writing. A friend who worked as an assistant in the journalism department convinced me to try out a class and I was hooked on the first day.
In hindsight, it seems to me that once I made up my mind to focus on a career in writing, everything just fell in line. I excelled in journalism and found myself, after a few twists and turns, with a concentration in public relations and sales. Now, a college graduate, I've went from the top of the hill (haha, no pun intended) back to the bottom with the rest of the recent grads scrambling for their first job.
So, at this point in my life, I'm looking to obtain a position in a dynamic, people-oriented work environment where my educational background, work experience and communication and organizational skills can contribute to the organization's vision, brand, marketplace objectives and community relationships.
