Brittany Bassler

Gainesville, Florida

Brittany Bassler is a transplant from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Jacksonville, Florida. The Bassler family moved to Florida in 1998 and learned very quickly college football ruled the land. They were told to "pick a side", and that's how Brittany became a Gator fan.

Brittany is a soon-to-be graduate from the University of Florida in December, 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication-News. She is a Main Anchor and Multimedia Journalist for WUFT-TV First at Five and former Reporter for Florida's 89.1 WUFT-FM, Gainesville's respective PBS and NPR affiliates.

Holding down multiple jobs during her time at UF, she currently works for the Alachua County Tax Collector. For her senior year, she commuted and worked weekends at Jacksonville's NBC/ABC affiliate, First Coast News (WTLV/WJXX). At FCN Brittany was an Associate Producer, Assignment Desk Editor, and Weekend Events Reporter.

Brittany will graduate from the University of Florida with Honors, and also a Minor in Educational Studies. Brittany holds a strong interest in the well-being of younger students, as she taught gymnastics, cheer, and dance classes at The Little Gym of Orange Park during her high school years.

Brittany plans to graduate and move back to her hometown of Fleming Island to start her career in broadcasting, or wherever she's led. In her spare time, Brittany loves being on or near the water. Whether it's at the beach or on the lake or creek -- really anywhere there's water and sunshine!
