I am a hockey obsessed aspiring sports journalist who is crossing enemy lines by getting a degree in public relations. I graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a B.S. in Journalism and English. Immediately following graduation I began my work towards a Master's in Public Relations, also at CCSU.
I currently work as a University Assistant at CCSU for the Student Government. As their UA I utilize my writing skills to keep the Senate websiite up-to-date, write monthly newsletters which get dispersed to the entire undergraduate student body and write press releases on a needed basis. I act as the liaison between the SGA and Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development.
The job that keeps me sane is the one as a 50/50 raffle girl on the game-day promotions staff of the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL Team to the New York Rangers). As a member of the promo staff I help make the in-game experience for the fans run smoothly. Beyond game-day, I spent the 2012-13 season editing game content for a local broadcast station to be rebroadcasted on a weekly basis and helped with the delivery of jumbotron videos.
As an undergrad I worked as the Sports Editor to our student-run newspaper. In my senior year I assisted in our paper's handling of a national scandal when a coach stole 150 copies and disposed of them. I've had two sports features win second place in the CT SPJ College Contest.
When I'm not working or studying I'm doing what I love which is writing, watching hockey or travelling. So far I've been to London, Paris and various cities in China with plans to continue.
