Brittany Krzyzanowski

Brittany Krzyzanowski explores the impact of environmental exposures on neuromotor and neurodegenerative disease as a postdoctoral researcher at Barrow Neurological Institute, the world’s leading neurological disease treatment and research center. At Barrow, Dr Krzyzanowski builds on her previous work from Washington University Medical School where she studied Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and Alzheimer's disease. Prior to this, her training focused on human/environment interactions, geospatial research methods, and population health at the University of Minnesota’s Department of Geography, Environment, and Society where she completed her PhD in 2021. As an interdisciplinary scholar, she uses her eclectic skills to engage with a broad range of population health topics ranging from infectious disease to cardiovascular health to depression and, in her current position, neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Krzyzanowski first familiarized herself with traditional epidemiological approaches during graduate school where she completed coursework within the University of Minnesota’s top-ranked public health program and she continues to build on this knowledge at her current position. Her unique background in human health and environmental science has enabled and fueled her drive to improve societal well-being by advancing public health research methods and promoting transparency of complex geospatial techniques.

Her research interests include chronic disease epidemiology, spatial data analysis, regionalization, environmental health, health disparities, neurological disorders, air pollution, geographic masking, patient data privacy, dynamic geographic visualization, women’s health, aging, and menopause.
