Brittany Gottschalk

I am 24 years old. I have two younger brothers whom I am very close with and loving parents who are divorced. My family is a major part of my life. Being the free spirited person I am, I've bounced around to a few colleges enjoying the changing environments of each location and have ended up earning a year shy of a BS degree in Political Science along the way. My college career was interrupted as a result of my struggle with substance abuse and after many years of the hardships that came along with using , I finally surrendered and checked into an inpatient facility in the mountains of North Carolina. When I completed inpatient treatment, I moved into a sober living community in Atlanta, Georgia and attended one of the most prominent outpatient treatment centers in the country. Against all guidance from my recovery program, I got into a relationship with a man who is now the father of my daughter. From the beginning we had a toxic relationship and eventually moved back to North Carolina after the pregnancy news. Upon arriving back in my home state, I dove back into my recovery and began preparing for the arrival of my princess. The day she was born is the best day of my life. I had a difficult 32 hour labor, but it was worth every single second. I wasn't aware that I could love someone as much as I love my daughter and everything I do today is for her. After months of turmoil, I finally gathered the strength to leave the harmful relationship I was in when my daughter was just a month old. All of the sudden I was a young single mom trying to learn the ropes of motherhood. Thankfully, I have my family who has been nothing but incredibly supportive and loving.

Today I am in a place that just few short years ago I couldn't have even dreamed of. It didn't come without lots of hard work and dedication but I absolutely love my life. Being a mother is my favorite role I've ever had. I've been blessed with being able to stay at home with my baby for the time being and am planning on returning to school to become an ultrasound technician.

I have many passions which brings me back to the purpose of my blog. I am no expert in any area. This is just a place where I am offering my advice, opinions, and experiences that can hopefully be helpful to others. This is my creative energy organized on a page! Nameste!
