Brittney Coker
San Diego, California
I attended California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) as an undergraduate where I completed a Bachelor's degree in Literature and Writing with an emphasis in writing. While I was at CSUSM, I travelled to England where I took part in an exchange program at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston, England. My studies at UCLan were split between Journalism and American Studies while also travelling extensively throughout the UK and many different European countries.
Shortly after graduation, I returned to the UK as a graduate student at the University of Leeds in Leeds, England. I spent a little over a year immersing myself in the Yorkshire/British culture while completing my Masters in American Literature and Culture (yes, ironic). After completing my dissertation (The Apocalyptic Representation of America in the Lyrics of Bob Dylan), I returned to San Diego to pursue my passion for teaching.
Teaching has been my ultimate career goal since before I can remember. I am now pursuing my passion at the University of San Diego as a member of the Masters and Single-Subject Credential Cohort of 2015. I am passionate about social justice, equity for all people, learning, reading, travelling, and laughter and I try everyday to bring these passions into my classroom.
