Music is supposed to be a shared language , not a performance art for an exclusive few . Although developing skill on an instrument can be arduous , if you build from the fundamentals (aka those things you can hum, whistle , or tap) you will be rewarded with 'musical fluency' in the long run , not to mention the ability to have basic musical conversations (aka jams) with anyone willing to listen and play in the short run . My passion for teaching music has always come from a desire to have more people to 'converse' with in this way.
