Brett Williams

Philadelphia to DC to New York

A Philadelphia native, Brett Roman Williams looks no further than his back pocket when it comes to his inspiration for developing stories and writing screenplays. It all started, when he was an undecided sophomore at Howard University and his older brother, who was then serving a 15 year prison sentence, asked him to revise and edit a 365 page screenplay called “Just Blowing Money”. Then suddenly, at the start of his junior year, Brett had to take a two year hiatus from Howard University. In a desperate effort to earn his way back into Howard, Brett started working in a busy Washington DC restaurant as a waiter. Once again, Brett was inspired by this life experience and it became his muse as he created the hour long TV drama pilot script, “Meal Ticket”. Brett eventually re-enrolled at Howard where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Film Production. Since then Brett has moved to Harlem, NY, where he is acting and currently producing a short film initiative to promote awareness about the 4th Amendment and warrantless vehicle searches in Pennsylvania, called “Warrantless”. “Warrantless” also serves as the lead-in to the incomplete feature length screenplay titled “Hindsight from 20”. As one can see, Brett’s stories and concepts are inspired from “real life” experiences and are told through the eyes of young black men overcoming unfavorable odds in present day America. Brett also makes it a point to write storylines that involve the diverse cultures of America; but also the global community.
