As soon as I hit 18, my feet were already propelling me in the opposite direction of home. I was born and raised in a small town near Vancouver, British Columbia. It had an ever- growing population of the elderly, and families, whom seemed determined to pop out as many offspring as possible.
Throughout school I was very involved, and opinionated, when it came to current events; whether it was on a national or global scale. It was a common occurrence to find me in a heated debate over a new law, or court case, that had recently been reported on by our news stations.
The suffocation of greasy mullets and suburban families, reached their peak in grade 12, and as soon as I got my acceptance from Ryerson University for Journalism, I was already packing.
I took my certificate in Grade 6 Royal Conservatory for piano, army of notebooks, and over 600 hours of volunteer time to Toronto.
Here I am working on building a life for myself, despite the thousands of dollars of student loans. I come with the support of my small family, and determination that comes from working a minimum wage job since the age of 14.
Currently I am in my first year of Journalism at Ryerson University, with a plan to minor in politics, and a further goal to work as either a producer, or anchor, for the BBC in London, England. There I can focus on expanding my interests in international politics, either through the newsroom, or travel.
