I love science, communication, the environment and facilitating change when change is hard. We are facing some grand challenges - from climate change to food security; from zika to the ethics of gene editing. I want the world and democracy I live in to include scientists (their knowledge and their passion) to help understand and solve some of our greatest challenges. I want to live in a place where scientist's passion for inquiry and curiosity is all around me.
I am particularly passionate about understanding how we can push on the scientific culture to support and reward more scientists to engage with the world outside their labs.
I recently stepped down from my post as the Executive Director of COMPASS (compassonline.org), a leading science communication organization, dedicated to helping scientist s engage in the public discourse about the environment. I am proud of building this organization, being part of a hugely talented team, tirelessly fundraising for our work, and pioneering ways for scientists and those setting our environmental course to get together.
I love strategic and systems thinking, innovating, leading great teams and connecting people. Oh, and I love trail running, my 2 daughters, mountain biking, my husband, the Trailblazers, NCAA hoops, hoppy beers, and red wine (not in that order).
