Brooke Sachs
In a world forever moving, the only constant seems to be change. It is for this reason that I choose never to be static, to seek out new technologies and to learn and appreciate the function of the old. It is only with an understanding of both that the present can most benefit.
Ideas may be my specialty but action is immeasurably more powerful. Edison said it's 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. I know I am ready for the hard work. I see something, ask how it works, who started it and why we still have it. I think about how we can improve it. I create plans to tackle these gaps in services or access. I take steps to enact these plans.
When people tell me not to sweat the small stuff, I remember that attention to detail is required for the most effective action. Without consideration of the nitty-gritty, big plans remain only dreams unachieved.
I'm passionate about all things medical. I'm passionate about policies, education and the environment. I like to think long, deep philosophical thoughts about why life is the way it is. I think we can increase access and the quality of care in so many fields through both minor tweaks and complete overhauls. I am studying Medicine at the University of Sydney and will attend FutureMed2020 in February 2012. I currently work for Medical Internet specialists, HelloMedical, who are transforming online health in Australia.
I believe in taking stock of our achievements. Quiet reflection gives clarity to often murky and overwhelming conditions.
I like to talk. More than that, I like to argue. My background in debating means I can get fired up about inequities. My years of adjudication mean I can see both sides of the story.
I endeavour to try new things, to meet new people and to gain as much from each experience as possible. I only get to live once.
I want to know you. I'm sure you have an interesting story. Let's chat.
