Sandy Brooks Critters 'n' Kids

As a prolific wildlife and children’s portrait artist, I use pencils and pastels to capture through art my awe for the untouched and untainted in today’s pressurized world. As a former pediatric physical therapist who often integrated pets into my patients’ treatment, I witnessed first-hand the dynamic relationship between the two subjects, and use my art to share my experiences with my audience. My works realistically portray innocent, heartfelt emotions from the unadulterated freedom of an owl soaring overhead to the wonder of a child, bright-eyed and hopeful, who explores the world as one with unlimited possibilities, both unaware of the barriers that hold many of us back from our happiness. My subjects may be humorous or striking or dramatic, but the end result is always intimate and inspiring.
