Ashley Marie Brown

Hello! My name is Ashley Marie Brown. I am a young professional living in one of the best cities in the world- Chicago. An Illinois native, I attended DePaul University, where I studied art history and French, graduating summa cum laude in 2012. I developed a passion for researching and writing on a complex variety of art historical topics, and found particular joy in photography and photojournalism.

As an artist myself with an eye for line and a heart for self expression, my education was the perfect combination of academic, personal, artistic and historical lines of thought that harmonized perfectly, sharpening my mind and expanding my horizons.

Although my study was specific, I stretched myself to experience as much as I could beyond my textbook education, including a variety of professional and volunteer experiences. These included time as a student caller for DePaul University, handling art work at a downtown gallery and a Chicago cultural museum, managing volunteers, writing grants and obtaining funding for nonprofit programs, and a long history of administrative support and project management. As a visual artist with an understanding of the cultural and historical implications of human expression, I approach my career with a creative and passionate eye, and an openness to new perspectives and excitement for new challenges. My creative eye and interest in visual expression has led me to pursue an interest in graphic design and I currently design for my employer while doing volunteer design for local nonprofits and taking courses at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Now, with over four years of nonprofit administration and communications experience, I am a skilled and driven professional with a broad range of skills. From customer service to database management, writing and research to project coordination and graphic design, I am poised and ready to tackle the future challenges and opportunities that await me in my career and personal life.
