The complex made simple is a design process as much as a mantra for how software should be made. Just like good design should be invisible to the viewer, so good software should be invisible to the user. If the consumer of data is aware of the technology and the mechanics of how that data gets to them a trick has been missed and something has gone astray, for all they will get out of it is data and not knowledge.
