Bruce Major is a Certified Public Accountant with 30 years of experience as a tax and financial consultant, 12 of which were at major international public accounting firms. His experience includes consulting in multi-state planning, mergers and acquisitions, and tax controversy while concentrating primarily on assisting clients with ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes. He has also been a tax director for a multi-national public company and has run many outsourced tax departments.

He began his career at Grant Thornton in 1993 and was promoted to manager in 1998. He then joined Arthur Andersen, where he worked in corporate tax until 2002 when the company ceased doing business. In 2002, Bruce went with a group of 69 tax professionals in Boston to Deloitte & Touche as part of the national tax transaction with Arthur Andersen. A senior manager at Deloitte, Bruce was one of four tax professionals nationwide to serve on the national tax initiative to implement Sarbanes-Oxley. He also headed up an initiative for the implementation of internally-developed tax software for the Northeast region of Deloitte. Two years later, Bruce joined Caturano & Company, which was later acquired by RSM.

In 2007, after seeing how the Sarbanes-Oxley Act changed the tax industry after the Enron investigation, Bruce decided to establish BA Major Associates — a boutique firm providing tax consulting and compliance services to multinational and domestic clients in a variety of industries for both public and privately held companies.

Leveraging strong past relationships and taking a “client service first” approach, Bruce built the firm up and was joined by current partner Brian Femia one year later. They hired their first employee in 2012 and grew to nine employees. In late 2020, BA Major Associates was acquired by WilliamsMarston LLC, combining his tax consulting and compliance expertise with WilliamsMarston’s accounting advisory and management consulting capabilities.

Bruce graduated magna cum laude with a Masters of Science in Taxation (MST) from Suffolk University in Boston, Mass. and attended undergraduate on a full athletic scholarship at the University of Maine, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Accounting and graduated with distinction. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. Bruce is an avid hockey player and golfer. He and his wife of 30 years have four sons.
