The president and CEO of i2 Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Bruce Eaton has also served as a professor of chemistry for more than 25 years. He is a retired full professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Colorado, Boulder. A former member of the Biotechnology Task Force and the Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Committee at CU Boulder, he chaired the university’s Committee for Mass Spec and the Program Plan for Renovations Committee. Before joining the faculty at CU Boulder, Bruce Eaton held academic positions at North Carolina State University and Washington State University.

During his time at CU Boulder, Bruce Eaton helped the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry to overhaul its financial account structure and establish new finance and human resources positions. He developed a new five-year science performance review process, an innovative model designed to engage members of the university’s senior leadership team in the department’s activities. In addition to securing campus funding to construct the Atmospheric Chemistry Center of Excellence, he retained prominent faculty through the negotiation of multimillion-dollar packages.

As the current president and chief executive officer of i2 Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Bruce Eaton oversees the creation of technological tools to aid pharmaceutical companies in drug discovery and development. He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied under Professor K. P. C. Vollhardt. He also has a master’s degree in organic chemistry and bachelor’s degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of Oregon.
