Bryan Parker

Bryan O. Parker is a proud municipal government employee who facilitates leisure activities for youth and adults in various urbanized environments. He's currently employed as Community Center Director at Wilson Park Community Center in the City of Compton, California. In addition to planning and directing recreational services, Parker has also served as a recognized liaison and support to the city's Youth Council as well as Commission on Aging. He continues to demonstrate a passion and a sincere respect for community enhancement & development by volunteering his personal time to mentor at risk youth. Since a young age, he has always known that he wanted to be in a profession where he could help improve the conditions of his community, aid in the development of the community's overall vision, and implement that vision into a viable plan of action. As a result, Mr. Parker volunteered time as well as solicited employment opportunities with various creditable nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Parker often suggests that there is no other profession that exists in which people are afforded opportunities to touch the lives of others in the manner that being a public servant does... "The decisions we make are often driven by both our heads and our hearts. We (public servants) aim to improve the quality of life for all of the citizens that we serve..." Parker recognizes that quality public service demands one's dedicated commitment to others and their general welfare... "I am just blessed that I am able to be in a career that I am committed to and passionate about..."

Mr. Parker received his Associate of Science degree from Compton Community College, in addition to an Associate in Arts from El Camino College, Torrance. He earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology as well as Recreation & Leisure Studies with a specialization in General Recreation Administration, from *California State University, Dominguez Hills. He also has an earned Master of Arts degree in Public Administration (M.P.A.), specializing in Organizational Leadership from National University. In 2000, Parker was awarded a Certificate of Completion in Child Development with a focus on Bilingual/Bicultural Education from Los Angeles Southwest College, as well as a Certificate of Achievement in Recreation Leadership from Compton Community College. *Graduate studies at National University took place in a traditional classroom learning environment, involving synchronous and asynchro
